RE: costly mistake. 5 wheelers please read.

I do three things everytime I hook up, 1: I make sure the jaws look closed. 2: I close the safety latch and put a pin through it to secure it. 3: I do the pull test with the wheel chocks still in place like sdagro does.
Now I'm not perfect but this is the one area I religiously check. Don't ask me about those temperature gauges that stick to your rv windows, lets just say they don't hold so well going 60mph down the highway. I'm on my third one now.

RE: $16000 off on new f-250

If? It's 16K off the sticker, then go for it, that pays for a lot of diesel.

RE: Anyone headed to Sturgis? Rafter J Bar Ranch

Just spent Memorial Day week at Rafter J, great place to camp and would definately stay there again. Here's a couple of pics, mine's the Raptor and the other three rigs are relatives rigs.

RE: Buying a Ford F450???

Doesn't sound like to bad of a deal to me, don't know enough about the trade-in to know if they're giving you enough money or not. It's always easy for folks to tell ya to have them knock more money off but its harder when you're the one actually doing the dealing. Just an fyi, I saved just shy $12k on mine.

RE: Raptor Owners

Wow, just goes to show you that every mfg has their lemons. We love our 3612 and have very few issues that most of them I solved myself. We would definately buy another Raptor but we would be more picky on the walk thru, we missed some stuff on this one.

RE: When to buy F450?

Now's the time to buy a F-450, you could probably talk them down more but some of the offers people are getting quoted on are not to shabby and I for one will not talk anyone of you out of buying one. I love my F-450 and couldn't be any happier with it. Here's a little eye candy to get you to sign on the dotted line ;).

RE: fuzion 403 with Dodge Ram 3500 Mega Cab 6.7 Diesel

I have yet to see a single rear axle truck have singles bet who knows they're probably out there. The only ones I have seen that have singles are double axles.

RE: fuzion 403 with Dodge Ram 3500 Mega Cab 6.7 Diesel

For me it was night & day difference when I went from a SWR to a DWR, when we bought the 3612DS Raptor, I knew I would upgrade to a DWR just for my peace of mind and not because people on this site said it would be safer. Most folks won't realize the significant difference between a SWR & a DWR until they experience it. Regarding the comment about the "Uncle" that said there wouldn't be much difference in a blow-out between a SWR & DWR, there's a huge difference, you have one spare tire to fall back to and be able to keep your rig in control and pull over safely. There's a topic on here with pics on what could happen if you have a blowout with a SWR and I believe he was pulling a Raptor just like mine.

RE: For those that have a Focus Or a Fusion

gitane59, YW and the gear box is not to shabby (not tight but not that loose) for a cheap daily driver. The manuals definately get better fuel mileage.
On another note, I have a buddy that has a Fuzion for a work vehicle and he only averages 23mpg in mixed city/hwy driving.

RE: For those that have a Focus Or a Fusion

I have a 2008 Ford Focus 5-speed manual and I average 35mpg in hwy/town driving. If it's all hwy, I average 37-39mpg depending on how fast I'm going which is usually 75mph. I just filled her up yesterday and got 36.495mpg in mixed town/hwy driving which is alot better than my 2008 F-450.

RE: Auxillary fuel tanks

Joe, let me know how it goes because curious minds want to know. I priced a 60gal under the bed from transfer flow here in Denver and they wanted a pretty penny (like $1500.00) for the tank/install. Haven't inquired but are the ones that go into the bed cheaper??

RE: 6.0 PSD Owners only please

Camping with Cash, you made a very wise decision, sometimes I wish I would of kept my 2006 6.0 F-250 just for the mileage I got. I do love my F-450 though but I wish it did just a little better on mileage but I bought the truck to tow my trailer so I'm not complaining.

RE: raptor 3612 quality control issues

To the OP, I've fixed so many things myself because it's much easier have'n it done right the first time instead of taking the Raptor back & forth to the dealer. Every RV mfg out there has quality control issues, some of my family that own $100,000.00+ units and they have issues to, it's just not the low end or middle, it's all of them.

RE: raptor 3612 quality control issues

Hey Hockymom, didn't do anything to the door so I'm lucky there. What portable stairs do you use because we do alot of "off the beaten path" camping and I know this is going to happen again?

RE: Anyone cancelling there 4th of july trip ??

We canceled our 4th Of July plans, not because of fuel costs but because we have family coming in from out of town and it will most likely cost us more because we'll be doing alot of the local attractions with them. Oh well, spending time with family is priceless.

RE: The BEST bug remover you'll ever use!

I've heard a bar of lava soap in a sock works well but haven't used that method. I'll try the dryer sheet method and see how that works, can't be any worse than using a extension brush with dish soap to get the bugs off.

RE: Parking the Truck--Anyone else?

I'm with no_bytes on this one, bought my dream truck (2008 F-450 Lariet loaded) end of January and now it sits all purty in the garage. Bought a 08 Ford Focus for a daily driver and yes I'm definately saving money (even with payment, insuranse, fuel, etc. & still putting on about 8000 miles/yr on the F-450) as the Focus averages 33-35 mpg in mixed town/hwy driving. I guess the saving grace is that I should be able to have the truck 10 years from now because I won't be putting on 25,000+ miles on it a year now.

RE: raptor 3612 quality control issues

Hockymom, those back low-hanging steps are killers, trust me I know, had the same thing happen to us not once but twice. I think I'm going to come up with some sort of quick release for the back stairs so that I can take them off while traveling and put them on while camping. We go off the beaten path quite often.

RE: good to be handy

James, I hear ya on that one, own the same setup you have and I'm constantly fixing this or that. No matter if it's a low-end or high-end fiver, there's always going to be something to fix.
